Please note: on the 4th Wednesday of the month*, the surgery will be closed from 12 noon for staff training, should you need to be seen during this time please contact the out of hours service on: 111

Extended Access to Appointments 

From 01 November 2017 we will be working with some of our Local Practices, to offer additional later appointments, as well as weekend appointments.

The local Practices comprise the following: Oakwood; Bull Farm; Meden Vale; Pleasley; Sandy Lane and Warsop Surgeries.

Appointments will be available weekdays up to 20:00 in our local area, each surgery has a set day to cover and Meden Medical Services will be covering Mondays.

• Appointments will also be available on Saturday mornings (by rota) in our local area so not always at Meden Medical Services. These appointments are for non-emergencies and pre-bookable only. When appointments are not available at Meden Medical Services during these new times (18:30 till 20:00 and on Saturdays) appointments may be available at one of the other practices listed above.
• GPs, Practice Nurses and Health Care Assistants appointments will be available.
• These additional appointments are for pre booking only and non-emergencies, so unlikely to be available to be booked on the same day. Nor will we be able to deal with emergencies / urgent enquiries or collection of prescriptions.
• General enquiries, emergencies/urgent appointments, booking of appointments, collecting of prescriptions will continue during our normal working hours only.

• Extended GP access service is accessible 7 days per week. If you require an appointment on a Sunday please enquire with the reception team.

We will continue to offer some early morning appointments during the week from 7am and evening appointments during the week till 7pm, subject to availability.

Currently, there are no facilities to transfer blood samples to the hospital, during these new appointment times (from 18:30 to 20:00 and Saturdays). So unfortunately, we will not be able to offer routine blood taking, during these hours. We are working with the Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), to work with the hospital, so that we may be able to offer this service during our new extended hours in future.

We will be closed on the following bank holidays. If you require medical assistance during these times please contact 111. In the event of a medical emergency, please dial 999.

All our appointments can be made by telephone, attending surgery in person and online appointments are available to be booked 24 hours a day.

We cater for genuine medical emergencies by having daily emergency appointments for those in need of seeing a doctor on the day.

Your Health Problem - at a glance

2. Do you need advice or Treatment?

• During surgery hours call for an appointment or to request a doctor or nurse to call you back for advice
• Call NHS Direct for advice on 0845 46 47 24hrs a day
• Outside opening hours your call to the surgery will be re-directed to the ‘Out of Hours’ who will be able to provide you with advice and appointments for urgent medical problems

Home Visits

We do expect patients to make their own way to surgery and encourage patients to seek the help of family, friends and other means of transport to do this. Home visits are reserved for patients deemed medically too sick to travel to the surgery.

Routine home visit requests must be made before 11 am each morning by calling 01623 843521. A request does not guarantee that a visit will occur and the doctor may contact you to arrange a more appropriate appointment.

House visits are only available for patients who are housebound because of illness or disability.

Please remember that several patients can be seen in the practice in the time that it takes to make one home visit. There are also better facilities for examining and treating patients at the Health Centre.
